Benefits of essential oils for hair oil

1. Lavender oil

Its regular use will result in fuller and thicker hair. Lavender oil is also proven to relieve stress. Lavender oil has a distinct and pleasant aroma. It stimulates hair growth and can even prevent hair loss resulting in fuller and thicker 

How to use it :-

Mix lavender oil with a carrier oil. Mix 8 to 10 drops of lavender oil with two tablespoons of carrier oil applied onto the scalp. Leave it for at least 30 minutes or overnight. You can also add a few drops of lavender oil to your shampoo or conditioner.

2. Rosemary Oil


Rosemary oil is full of antioxidants, and is invigorating to the skin. It has a head-clearing aroma. Rosemary oil is suitable for all hair types. It unclogs pores on the scalp, and balance the head’s oils. It is a powerful remedy for dandruff that mixes well with other oils. Rosemary oil stimulates the roots, increases circulation and improves hair growth. Rosemary oil prevents premature baldness and graying.

How to Use :-

Rub 2-3 drops of rosemary oil on your palms and then run them through your damp hair. For a massage, add 5-6 drops to a tablespoon of carrier oil and apply it onto the scalp. Leave for 30 minutes, then wash out. Rosemary oil mixed with minoxidil is a common hair growth treatment.

3. Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is good for both oily and dry hair. Peppermint oil helps to stimulate the scalp, open up pores, treat dandruff and promote a balanced flow of oils too. It is also used to treat lice due to its powerful antiseptic properties.

Peppermint has a pleasant cold, tingling sensation when applied. Its calming effects help to reduce skin inflammation. Peppermint oil uses can also work to energize your mind, boost your mood and relieve tension or headaches.

How to Use It :-

Add 2-3 drops of peppermint oil to a carrier oil of your choice. Massage into the scalp. Leave for 30 minutes. Rinse off.

For getting rid of lice, combine it with eucalyptus oil. 

4. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil has rich cleansing, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties. It can help unclog hair follicles and increase hair growth. A mixture containing tea tree oil and minoxidil is more effective than just the minoxidil alone in improving hair growth. Tea tree oil is also useful for flakiness. Tea tree oil has been found successful in treating seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. Using Tea tree oil can increase hair count, weight, and thickness.

How to Use this :-

Mix 10 drops of tea tree oil into your shampoo or conditioner and use it daily. You can mix 3 drops of tea tree oil with 2 tablespoons of carrier oil and leave it on for 15 minutes.

5. Lemongrass oil

Lemongrass oil is an essential oil that contains many vitamins and minerals that are great for the hair. Lemongrass oil has healing qualities and works well for all types of hair issues. Lemongrass oil is also proven to strengthen hair follicles and soothe an itchy and irritated scalp. It also prevent and reduce hair loss. Lemongrass oil is an effective dandruff treatment. Lemongrass oil work as a natural bug repellant, relieve stress and treats headaches.

How to use it :-

Just add 10 drops of lemongrass oil to your bottle of shampoo or conditioner.You can also massage 2–3 drops into your scalp.

Keep in mind, never apply essential oils to your scalp or skin without a carrier such as a coconut oil or olive oil.
